Why Choose Green River Greenhouse?

Sustainable Agriculture can be the solution to feeding our planet’s rapid population growth. With the planet’s population growing at an alarming rate that nears an increase of around 100k people per day, it is the duty of the earth’s current inhabitants to discover new, Eco-friendly ways to feed this influx of people. One of these ways is by sustainable agriculture or “an integrated system of plant and animal production practices having a site-specific application that will last over the long term” – Gordon McClymont. Green River Greenhouse has taken this idea one step farther by forgoing conventional produce growing methods for a more healthy, and more Eco-friendly organic growing method. Organic practices ensure the customer is getting a product that was grown strictly using organic or “from the earth” system inputs, and no synthetic additives. Choosing to eat organic has many benefits ranging from the ability to simply maintain a pro-health diet up to something as proactive as disease prevention. Its important that the methods of Green River Greenhouse, LLC., and farms alike are supported by the local communities surrounding them. We at GRG encourage the advocacy of organic farming by any and all who understand its importance. Not just for the preservation of our operation, and operations like ours, but more-so for the preservation of our planet and its inhabitants

Since construction completed inthe summer of 2012 Green River Greenhouse worked nonstop to incorporate the most effective system, and build the most competent team to achieve their mission. Currently we have what we believe to be a complete and consistent operation that is capable of producing the best organic produce on the planet. Check produce availability to get your hands on it, and judge for yourself. We are extremely confident in our operation on every level. GRG’s farm-raised fish are sold exclusively to a private market for the time being, however we do expect to adjust that availability to a public market, on some degree, in the near future. Other niche markets for fish have also been discussed, and could quite possibly become available in the future as well. Keep your eyes open. We forecast the introduction of those particular adjustments to take place as the 2016 calendar year moves along. Also offered by GRG are tours, and consulting services for those who desire an in-depth look at the industry, and how it works. If you have thought of starting your own aquaponics operation these services are a must. Our staff will provide their expertise to you at a fair, one-time fee that includes a close look at our operation, a mini-workshop, and indefinite consulting afterwards.

What we do?

Green River Greenhouse uses the method of aquaponics to grow produce and raise nile tilapia. Aquaponics, is a food production system that combines conventional aquaculture with hydroponics in a symbiotic environment. In normal aquaculture, excretions from the animals being raised can accumulate in the water, increasing toxicity. In an aquaponic system, water from an aquaculture system is fed to a hydroponic system where the by-products are broken down by nitrogen-fixing bacteria into nitrates and nitrites, which are utilized by the plants as nutrients. The water is then recirculated back to the aquaculture system. This system is also referred to as a Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS), however a conventional RAS does not use the growth of plants as part of its bio-filtration.
